2016 IndyCar Testing

There are still 67 days until the first race of the 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series season kicks off on the streets of St. Petersburg, but there will be plenty of testing before it all begins. There will be some testing for both Honda and Chevrolet teams over the next few months, in addition to the big promoter test at Phoenix at the end of next month.

Below is an updated schedule of what is coming up on the calendar.

 

2016 Testing

January 20 at Sebring International Raceway (Honda)

  • Andretti Autosport (Ryan Hunter-Reay, Marco Andretti, Carlos Munoz)
  • RLL Racing (Graham Rahal)

February 8 at Phoenix International Raceway (Chevrolet)

  • Penske (Will Power, Juan Montoya, Helio Castroneves, Simon Pagenaud)
  • CFH Racing (Ed Carpenter, Josef Newgarden)
  • KV Racing (Sebastien Bourdais)

February 10 at Sonoma Raceway (Chevrolet)

  • Ganassi (Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan, Charlie Kimball)

February 26, 27 at Phoenix International Raceway

March 2 at Sebring International Raceway

  • Penske (Will Power, Juan Montoya, Helio Castroneves, Simon Pagenaud)
  • CFH Racing (Josef Newgarden)

March 15 at Barber Motorsports Park

  • Penske (Will Power, Juan Montoya, Helio Castroneves, Simon Pagenaud)

With 178 IndyCar wins and 16 Indianapolis 500 victories, Team Penske announced today their plans for a year-long celebration of their 50th year in motorsports. The IMS Hall of Fame Museum will have a special exhibit next month, and will include vehicles, artifacts, and trophies from the teams’ incredible motorsports history.

Also announced earlier this week, veteran Public Safety official Michael Bates will fill a Senior Position at Hulman Motorsports. Bates’ title will be Senior Director of Safety and Security beginning on January 14. Bates has served as deputy chief at IMPD since 2010, leading more than 250 officers and 20 civilian employees within the Homeland Security division. The first race of the 2016 season takes place on March 13 in St. Petersburg, Florida. The 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 is set for May 29. You can purchase your Race Day tickets here.
